Meet Tamika Gooden

Founder of Nunu Cakes & Nunu Baking Essentials

Tamika Gooden’s story begins in a kitchen filled with warmth, laughter, and the scent of something sweet rising in the oven. Raised in a large, close-knit family, she is the eldest of four siblings and the proud product of generations of love, strength, and creativity. Her earliest memories are of baking alongside her grandmother, who not only taught her the basics of flour, sugar, and butter but also how to pour love into everything she made.

Long before cupcakes became her calling, Tamika dreamed in color and texture. A creative at heart, she found joy in fashion design as a young girl, sketching garments and imagining her future in bold prints and beautiful silhouettes. But life has a way of revealing your true purpose in the quiet, unexpected moments and for Tamika, that purpose was discovered through baking.

After years spent in the insurance industry, Tamika followed her heart and launched "NuNu Cakes" a brand built on comfort, connection, and the healing power of something homemade. What began as a personal outlet quickly grew into a successful business, known for its rich flavors, heartfelt stories, and the ability to bring people together, one bite at a time.

Her motto remains as sweet and powerful as her mission:

“Bake the world a better place, one cupcake at a time.”

Tamika’s journey has been shaped not only by success, but by profound loss. The unexpected passing of her beloved sister Mimi became a defining moment, fueling her desire to live with deeper intention and to create something lasting. Through grief, she found healing in the kitchen, and a deeper calling to inspire others to keep going, to keep creating, and to find joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments.
Now, as she continues to grow her vision, Tamika is proud to introduce "Nunu Baking Essentials" a curated line of tools, mixes, and must-haves designed for both everyday bakers and seasoned pros. It’s the next chapter in her story, created from years of experience, a deep understanding of quality, and a desire to help others succeed in their own kitchens.

But most importantly, this legacy is being built with love and with the future in mind. Tamika is now introducing her son into the heart of the business, teaching him the same values her grandmother once passed down to her. Together, they’re not just baking, they’re preserving a family tradition, one that honors the past and inspires the future.

Whether you’re baking to heal, to celebrate, or simply to share joy, Tamika hopes her journey reminds you that every life holds purpose, every flavor tells a story, and every kitchen can be a place of love.
